Extra Prayers Needed...

Greeting Everyone,

Well, here's the update. We did not get the required signature in Kiev from the SDA today. However, all is not lost! Tomorrow, first thing in the morning, Yuri assures us they are suppose to sign it. The judge here in Kirovograd has agreed to accept a faxed copy until the original is sent by train. So we are still on the schedule for 2:00 tomorrow in court. However, if Yuri does NOT get the signature first thing in the morning, we have to wait until next week. PLEASE pray they sign it first thing in the morning. I completely believe in the power of prayer. Luke 1:37 "Nothing is impossible with God".

We still haven't heard when the boys will be able to come home with us. If Lamar and I had it our way, we would leave the judge's chamber, take a cab over to JetSki Dom, grab the kids and never look back. However, it's not that easy. Yuri wants us to keep them there until our birth certificates and passports are done. He said it is really tough to bring kids with you and have that done. Obviously we respect Yuri, but it will be hard knowing we could have the kids if we so desired. Hmmm? I'm very anxious to see how this pans out.

The boys are doing very well. They are being great sports trying out English. When it's time to clean up and Lamar and I start singing the "Clean Up" song that you all know, remember, and love. Kolya pipes right in and sings, "Lean-da....lean-da". Now when we start cleaning up, Lamar says, "It's Lean-da time!" It kills me! We are still working with sharing toys. Actually Kolya has an amazing strategy. If he sees something Yarik has that he really wants, he finds a "decoy" toy, runs up to Yarik and grabs the toy he wants. Before Yarik has a chance to cry, he throws the "decoy" toy into his hands and takes off with the desired toy. It works for him, too! Yarik falls for it every time. I have a sneaky suspicion that his two big brother back at home will not be as gullible falling for this Master Plan.

Yarik is still a mess. He fell on the corner of a brick wall and cut open the side of his face near his eye. We were sure it was going to be a black eye. He cried less than a minute and then he wanted down to play. He's incredible. He's VERY tough. He impresses us with how he is trying English, too- especially if the reward is a bite of banana. He will try saying ANYTHING for a bite of food. However, even though he is a very good eater, if he doesn't like something, there is NO way it is going down. We cracked open a walnut outside and gave him some of the inside upon his begging insistence. He took one taste of it and spit it out so quickly while wiping his tongue to remove any residual taste. We really had to try hard to not laugh. I can't wait to see his reaction to the taste of his first lemon. Watch out! We might have to pull out the rain gear again!

We had a chance to go to the market again. We finished up all our shopping for the boys today. we have everything from Pull-Ups for Yarik at night to new toothbrushes, teddy's, hats, underwear, clothes, snacks, etc. We don't want to get too much stuff here because we have to bring it home with us. However, we will be here at least a week with them, so we need some stuff.

This morning our land line phone rang at 7 a.m. I think it was Sergei wanting to know if we would be going to lunch at that restaurant. Augh! We were sound asleep, too. We stay up late here so we can Skype with the boys after their school, and we try and sleep in. I'm trying to remain positive about being woken up by a large, persistent Ukrainian man, but the only thing I've got is that maybe God is preparing me for being woken up by hungry, little, persistent Ukrainian boys. Could be...! I can't wait!

One thing I keep forgetting to mention. To all my Dog-Loving Friends and Family (especially my big sister, Teresa...hee hee hee!) I must share with you something very sad. There are street dogs ALL over the place in Ukraine. I never heard of street dogs except in "All Dogs Go to Heaven". I didn't know they still existed? Dogs roam all over the place here begging for scraps and hand outs. If they want to take a nap, they just drop where they are and fall asleep. Lamar and I have to step over sleeping dogs when we walk places. It's the craziest thing. It even breaks MY heart to see so many animals without homes. The dogs are all over the outside playgrounds at the orphanage, too. Ukrainian dogs don't say 'Bow Wow' here either. Ukrainian dogs say, 'Gov-gov'! When Yarik and Kolya see a dog, they point and say, "Gov-Gov". Isn't that a riot?

Well, I'm off to see if I can get online to paste this blog. We are having a real difficult time with our internet the past couple of days.

We will let you all know as soon as we receive word about tomorrow. Fingers crossed, prayers sent, and candles lit...but please don't burn down your houses!

Love to all-
Kris

  1. Dad and I followed your directions and found Target for more cough medicine for Jacob and bug spray for both boys. We had lunch at El Paso and know why you like that restaurant!!! Were your ears burning? We were talking about you! (All good of course).
You have tons of clothes for Andrew Kolya. However, you will need small clothes for Alex Yarik. We believe that he will be the very first SMALL Douberly boy.We will light candles and keep praying. God bless you.
    Love, Mom and Dad

  2. Extra prayers, got it. They should be flooding your way momentarily. This is the final bump in the road to bringing Alexander Yarik and Andrew Koyla home. Hmmm Andrew Koyla's decoy tactic sounds similar to something Dylan might cook up. Will he be a lawyer too with Dylan? Maybe they can start a law firm together! Time to go Lean-da the house. . . . Much love to you. The Thoroman's

  3. OK, fingers are crossed, prayers are in process, but I had to go out and get one of those pretend candles...you know the ones that look like candles, but run on batteries. I obviously am not respondible enough to have the real thing going all the time. I am pretty sure your last sentence was dircted towards me.
That is so sad about all of the puppies!! I would tell you to bring one home for me, but I have my hands full with Kona! Last night/this morning, I saw every hour! He was up EVERY HOUR!!! Little stinker! He just wanted to play. I have to tell you, I am not in any mood to play until I have had some coffee, and I do not like to drink coffee until after 7am, at least!!!
The kids are still wearing their bracelets. They WILL NOT take them off until you have the boys home with you! Callie had it for Show and Tell last Friday. She told her class "This is my Ukrainish bracelet, and I wear it so I can pray for my friends to get thier new brothers." I just about burst into tears right there!! The beads are getting a little faded, but the meaning is still there! I have mine on my purse. That would not do you any good Kristina, since you do not have a purse. Well, that is one less thing to screw up your back anyway. I think I may have the kitchen sink in mine. When I have back problems, you will know it is from lugging around my purse.

Okay, now I am just rambling. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I know it is hard for you guys to wait and see, but to also be away from Josh and Jake. We pray for Josh and Jake, because being without Mommy and Daddy is tough, and I am sure they are very anxious to see their new brrrats. And I pray for your parents, on so many different levels... :-)

So, signing off, everything is crossed, prayers are being said, and my pretend candle is pretending to flicker.

Thanks again for all the updates!!! There is only one cure for my DBCOCD, and that is postings, or Skypings. I do not have school, so you do not have to stay up late for me!

    Love you!!!!
    Laura

  4. My dear dear Kris and Lamar,
YEAH!! The end is near and a new beginning is coming!! My prayers and thoughts are with you each passing minute. I can just hear the giggles and laughters in the Douberly house with your new additions!! With all that shopping for the boys, I hope you have a Space Bag somewhere!! I don't leave home without them especially when I travel back to Singapore so that I can shop till I drop!! All the very best and looking forward to hear the wonderful news!!
    Love & hugs,
    Helen

  6. Kris and Lamar, What can I say but that prayers are coming your way. Tomorrow is a very big day in your life and the life of the new Douberly boys. I always pray when I wake up in the morning and during the day and before bed at night that you will be led, guided and directed to know just what is right for you and the family. At 6 a.m. when I am driving to work I know that it is 1 p.m. where you are and tomorrow I can really be praying around 7 a.m. our time, and you court date at 2 p.m. your time. I think I have the calculations correct. Oh well, if I don't you get prayers anyway.

I am waiting about a week before I mail the package I spoke w/you about. Don't want Josh and Jake to have to wait a long time before they open it with their new brothers. That wouldn't be fair to them. When I know your return date I'll drop it in the mail to coordinate your time coming home. That way they won't have to wait a long time before "the brothers", as Eryka would say, get home

Can't wait to see all of you. Love, Mom

  7. Oh my gosh, the dogs, yes, I forgot about the dogs! Isn't it amazing how they run in packs too?! Just take off across a two laner and stop traffic as their motley crew prances along. And their posse are all shapes, colors and sizes! You could see something the size of a pug, prancing along with another dog looking like it has to be a genuine wolf. Kristina, are you surviving? Dog lover that you are....especially running around loose dogs? We never saw any dogs fighting or bothering anyone though....

I LOVE the decoy tactic! That's awesome! Max is the opposite of Kolya. He is a SUPER sharer....but then gets upset when his sister does not "share" the toy back to him.....poor dejected little boy. His baby sister is a BRUTE I tell ya. That boy has the Douberly manners....he never hits his baby sister, and boy does he have to take it like a man!
Lamar, did you have some sort of Man-to-Man with him on the beach I don't know about?

We will be praying for signatures and court dates to go well. Have faith, I swear Yuri can get anything out of those CSD ladies with a smile! He did it many times for us....I know God will have his hand on Yuri's shoulder to guide him for you as well.
We all have our bracelets on as well too. I think the gold is wearing off my beads as prayers go out. We did have to switch candles as you now. So your new aroma is now "Fall Spice"....

    With Love and Hugs!

  11. Our candle is burning for you.....with prayers a plenty! I am in a quiet house (amazingly) as Ava is still sleeping, and A,K,& M just left on the bus. I will sit with my candle and pray....as you are probably in the court house right now. Stand strong, God is right there with you, as well as with the decision makers. These boys are already yours, it is just a matter of a few signatures now.
We are with you in spirit.
    With Love,
    Rebecca
