God is good

Dearest Loved Ones,

I would love to beat around the bush or drag this out....but I can't....
WE ARE COMING HOME!!! That's right! We just got our tickets and we fly out tomorrow EARLY morning. We will be landing at Dulles International at 3:45 Saturday afternoon.

Everything happened VERY fast. Yuri hinted there was a very slim chance that if we got everything done today, we MIGHT be able to leave this weekend or Tuesday at the latest. Well, we got it all done! Today we did medicals (the boys were troopers!) and visas at the embassy. We got it all done in time to book some tickets. We will be getting up at 2:30 this morning (if Lamar and I even go to bed...we are REALLY jazzed) to get the boys ready and out the door to the airport.

It will be a very long day of traveling with the boys and we do worry about their sinuses, but every flight and every layover is still a step closer to getting back to my boys, family, friends, and home.

I feel like this is the end of a journey I have so enjoyed taking with each and every one of you. However, I do believe that is the beginning of a new chapter, not just for Alexander and Andrew, but for the entire Douberly Family. We look forward to keeping you updated on the reunion, adjustment process, and the many boyish antics that are sure to come. Oh, I can't wait!!!

God bless you all and thank you for your continued prayers on this last push to get the Douberly family all together.

Love always,

Kris

  1. WOW! Can't wait to see the expression on Joshua and Jacob's faces when you skype them in less than 20 minutes! Dad and I have our cameras hidden and ready when they arrive. We know we won't be able to record their thrilled voices, but hey??? Off to the bus stop to make sure a Mom does not leak our WONDERFUL SECRET!!!
    Love you and God bless.

  4. I'm so happy you are almost home. I'm sure it will very joyous! They are going to love it here-USA(there-VIRGINIA), I wish they were here(JACKSONVILLE/ORANGE PARK). They have a ton of family here that wishes we could see them and you of course when you get off the plane. I'm sure much more wonderful memories are yet to come. Get ready Lamar to buy Kris a new camera. She's going to explode the one you have now with taking so many pictures. Now there is no time whatsoever for scrapbooking Kris. Oh well! How wonderful is this news. The best is yet to come. Can't wait to see the new family pictures of the Douberly's. I wonder what Drew and Alex will think when they see USA. They will be shocked. Love to all, be safe. Hope you guys get back to normal sooner than what it did in Ukraine. Love again, Dee Ann

  11. Ohmygoodnessgracious!!!!!
I just can't believe that you guys are coming home!!! You are angels for those little boys, and NOBODY will forget it. God is on your side the entire time. Alex and Andrew are the two luckiest boys in the Ukraine!!! The Douberly family is new and improved, with life experiences that you will never be able to forget. What you have done to save the boys is absolutely ASTOUNDING- not many people would be able to stick through it all like you have. I just can't wait to meet my new cousins... it brings tears to my eyes to think that one family can bring so much joy to those little lives! This journey is SO important to everybody involved- and I can't believe that I get to be one of those people. I don't think we could survive the suspense if it wasn't for your blog- I am very grateful for you sharing your time with those of us who can't be there to witness the blessings for ourselves. The whole family is with you the entire way- and that doesn’t stop when you arrive home. I love you so much- words can’t express how great this is. Never stop spreading the love!!!
    God bless you all,
    Erin

  12. Kris and Lamar - well, I'm "bringing up the rear" with my comment, as you are already home now! I wish I could have been there to see the union/reunion with all the boys! I get chills as I write this!

Thought I would have my package waiting for you upon your return, but God worked with expedience in allowing y'all to come home sooner, rather than later! Yea! When I bought gift bags, I thought it ironic they said "CELEBRATE" - it goes without saying that your/our family has a lot to celebrate! I just wish I could have seen Andrew and Alex's little faces as they behold their home and awaiting family - wouldn't you love to know their thoughts?

How amazing it has been to read the blog and all comments of friends and family expressing their love and support for y'all - I'm going to miss it myself, but hope you'll continue to update the blog as Andrew and Alex settle into their/your daily lives! I've said it before - they are SO very fortunate to have you as parents, and I couldn't be more proud of y'all for the gift you've given us all! We're ALL blessed for having experienced this journey!

Can't wait to see pictures - please post them as soon as you can catch a breath!

And I'd like to say: "Welcome to the United States of America Andrew and Alex." One day you'll understand how truly blessed you are to live in this great Country! We're glad you're here!

    Love you ALL!

    Aunt/Great Aunt Betsy

  13. wow... I just checked for the Unity pictures.. the celebration etc.. but saw a couple of new entries one of which brought tears to my eyes... then I got to the word "cousins"... It was my daughter writing!!!! Go Erin! What a beautiful entry! Shocked me... I love it! I hope that today was as good as it was in all my "premonitions"... since the crazy Lewis family has had many the conversation about the fact that you would be coming home from the Ukraine with two boys... months ago... so exciting... I am all the way down here in FL and I can't sleep STILL!!! Adrenaline is a funny thing. I hope you had the most wonderful day EVER today!!! Welcome home boys. We love you all. Forever. No matter what. Glad you made your way home. God knows how long you have been in all of our hearts. We love you!
